My name is Scott Powers. I am the owner and operator at Powers Forge Works. I'm also a husband to an amazing wife and a father to two beautiful kids. I work as an educator and coach for the local school district.

The love and passion for working with my hands started as a young boy. Growing up, my father and grandfather taught me that hard work is honest work. Through these lessons, I developed the love for handcrafted items.

Fast forward to my early 20's. I was fresh out of college, newly married, and loving life. One day, I saw a video of a man forging pickets for a handrail. I thought to myself, "I can do that." That is when this journey began.

I got started as an ornamental/structural blacksmith. I started out with no more than a homemade forge, a short piece of railroad track, a few hammers, and a passion for the craft. Three years later, I discovered the craft of the forging blades. From that day forth, I put all my spare time into this craft. I'm striving to become a well known name in the industry. I  am also working toward becoming a Master Bladesmith through the ABS (American Bladesmith Society).

I specialize in the brute-de-forge esthetic of knife making. I am most well known for making kitchen cutlery, but I like making hunters, skinners, and filet knives as well. The quality and performance of my work is the most important aspect of my knife making. I only use high quality material when making your knife.  Properly made hand crafted cutlery will outperform anything you can buy at a big box store.

I get it. Handcrafted knives are expensive. My motto is, "Invest Once".  It means instead of buying something made of lesser quality materials and subpar craftsmanship for a cheaper price; You should invest in the best quality item once and have it for your lifetime. I guarantee if you take proper care of the knife that I make, you will be able to hand it down for generations. Making sure each and every knife that leaves my shop is made at the highest level of craftmanship is very important to me. I would rather spend extra time making sure your knife has the best fit and finish possible. This ensures that every time you use your knife it will out preform any other knife you own.

At the end of the day, if getting to use your knife does not bring you joy, then I have not done my job right. I strive to ensure that you will enjoy using your knife.
